Differences Between Affiliation and Institution

sometimes people find it difficult to distinguish between affiliation and institution, mostly these terms are often used interchangeably. However, the difference is that ‘Institution’ is the research organization or university where you are presently working/studying while ‘Affiliation’ is the description of your association with the organization or university. When distinguished like this, ‘Institution’ refers to the name of the university/organization and ‘Affiliation’ refers to the department (or section, in case there are several sections within that department).

Affiliation and Institution Entry formats

Entry for ‘Institution’

In the Institution field, you should enter the name of your present university or organization, where you are studying or working, as the case may be. As you mentioned ‘company,’ in case you are working in a corporate organization (in an industry job), you need to mention the name of this organization.

Entry for ‘Affiliation’

For the Affiliation field, you should enter the name of your department in your university/organization, and if space permits, you may include the section name too. In which case, you need to first include the section name and then the department name with a comma separating the two, like this: [Name of Section], [Name of Department].Basically, applicants should provide their inputs in the form in such a manner that when the details of your name and affiliation appear in the article, it should read in the following sequence: [Your Name], [Name of Section], [Name of Department], [Name of Institution].

Affiliation is the most popular way of getting associated and connected with the renowned organization or a Board. It is like a partnership based on some specified support services and benefits. Affiliation board provides various advantages to the schools affiliated like they conduct the examination, provides the certification with external validity and helps in providing the school curriculum.

1.provisional Affiliation

2.regular Affiliation

3.permanent Affiliation

Basic requirements for Affiliation

To get affiliation, a school needs to fulfill following requirements:

  • Proper office maintenance
  • Maintenance of registers (admission and withdrawal).
  • Maintenance of service records of the teachers.
  • Proper admission procedures for teachers.
  • Provision for quality Math lab, Science Lab and Computer lab.
  • Obey the Bye-laws of the board in implementing the CCE (Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation).
